The finest feathers fall from the strangest birds

PAUL WUNDERLICH

The finest feathers fall from the strangest birds says Aimee Walleston when talking about Paul Wunderlich. The last issue of V magazine features this artist that has been inspiration for showstudio's Nick Knight, Peter Saville and Lazaro Hernandez from Proenza Schouler among others. Underrated in a way by his peers in the art world, at the age of 82 Wunderlich continues to inspire with his aproach to surrealism, some of the most iconic image makers of the past decade.  In Walleston's words "Wunderlich was too weird for the art world, but just beautifully twisted enough for fashion". Fashion or art? art or fashion? for me the dividing line between these two is just too blury. Fashion is so constantly inpired by art. When I stare at Wunderlich's aproach to surrealism it's easy to understand how his work comes as inspiration to the world of fashion in which art just happen to have the ability to walk.
